Cricket Club

Templeton Cricket Club was established in 1983 by a group of local residents, starting with two senior and two junior teams.

Research has revealed that the club was operating as a social cricket club in 1926/27, however it is likely that with the onset of the 1920’s & 1930’s Depression that the initial development of cricket in the Upwey area floundered or was sporadic until the formal commencement of competition based matches.

The WGCA consists of 20 clubs located within the City of Casey & the Shires of Cardinia & Bass Coast in South Eastern Victoria.

Formed by members of the Wyclif Congregational Church, Surrey Hills, the first appearance of the Wyclif Cricket Club was in late January 1893 against the Canterbury Congregational Church. A further match against Canterbury Congregational was played in March 1894.

A public meeting held at Vermont South Community House on Wednesday 13th July 1977 led to the formation of the Vermont South Cricket Club (VSCC).

The West Ivanhoe United Cricket Club (WIUCC) is located at Seddon Reserve, a quiet safe off-street park that you enter through Green Street.

Three or four kilometres downstream from Yackandandah, a local cricket club was formed in October of 1859 at Rowdy Flat.
